MDO Series Connectors

Kyomori-Ka’s MDO series is an ultra-small form factor (VSFF) duplex fiber optic connector designed for terminating multimode and single-mode fiber optic cables with diameters of 2.0mm or less. MDO connectors utilize the same 1.25mm ferrule technology found in industry-standard LC connectors. Featuring Kyomori-Ka’s revolutionary push-pull boot technology, they allow for easy insertion and removal of individual connectors, even in the most densely packed environments.

An invention patent is currently pending—stay tuned!

Product Specifications

Maintaining Duplex Connector Accessibility Using Kyomori-Ka Push-Pull Technology
The MDO connector utilizes the Kyomori-Ka push-pull boot, enabling convenient mating and unmating in tight spaces without interfering with adjacent components; the flexible boot ensures the bend radius remains within specifications during cabling while preventing damage to the optical fiber during insertion and removal.

Quick and Simple Polarity Reversal
MDO connectors allow for convenient polarity reversal without damaging the fiber. The process involves pulling out the housing, rotating it 180°, and reinserting it; markings on the top and side indicate the polarity status.

Integrated Solutions
Integrated connectors reduce connection points and facilitate the identification of fiber optic groups. Kyomori-Ka offers multiple solutions, including cable clamps and integrated connectors.
Offers a Variety of Adapters

Kyomori-Ka offers 2-, 3-, and 4-port MDO adapters that support MDO interconnects; the 2- and 3-port models can replace LC duplex adapters (fitting existing panel cutouts) while increasing density by 2 to 3 times.

Product Features

Offers three times the fiber cabling density of LC connectors, providing 216

duplex connectors (432 fibers) within 1RU.

The Kyomori-Ka push-pull sleeve makes connecting and disconnecting the

connector effortless.

Easily perform polarity reversal with no exposed fibers.

Meets IEC Grade B attenuation requirements for random mating (average

0.12 dB, maximum 0.25 dB, for over 97% of connectors).

Complies with Telcordia GR-326 and TIA-568 standards.
Designed for optical cables with an outer diameter of 2.0 mm or less.
Multimode, single-mode PC, and single-mode APC versions are available.

New Applications Require the Use of Simplified Connectors
High-density connectors reduce hardware size and cost. Within a 1RU space, the fiber count increases threefold—from 144 with LC connectors to 432 with MDC connectors. MSA standards call for smaller form factors; the miniaturized MDO design supports multi-channel mating for single-array modules. The QSFP form factor accommodates four MDO connectors plus two fibers, while the SFP form factor supports optical cable connections.

Carrier-Grade Performance
MDO connectors halve the footprint while doubling the fiber count; thanks to their robust construction, precision molding, and compliant mating length, they surpass the Telcordia GR-326 standards applicable to LC connectors (including rigorous inspection and TWAL testing).

MDO-APC Series Connectors
The MDO-APC series connectors are suitable for high-density duplex

applications requiring extremely low reflectance.
Thanks to a unique angled-ferrule design,
polarity can be easily and simply switched
should the system polarity not match expectations.
